About the Workshop

In this workshop participants will learn and build on wheel throwing skills to create new forms and refine favorites with an eye on the details that make strong functional pots. In depth demonstrations, historical and contemporary examples, and lots of hands-on work will be at the heart of our exploration of a wide range of pottery forms. One-on-one, and as a group, we will discuss the decisions we make as we work, and thoughtfully address the details of the pieces we create – rims, feet, waists, bellies, shoulders, handles, spouts, lids – as each is a part of the piece that demands consideration.

Use of slips, washes and glazes will be covered, as well as fundamentals of Cone 5/6 firing in electric kilns.

Open to all levels.
