About the Workshop

This intensive week-long course will kickstart that graphic memoir you’ve been planning by introducing the vocabulary of cartooning and comic systems. The course is designed to help  each student to shape their own visual language. Bring your family stories, biographies and health journeys along with your personal papers and historical documents. Each day we will move our project forward while producing short comics designed around learning and making comics. The entire week  will include discussions of graphic stories, lessons on comic form and considerable amounts of time to draw, write and critique work with each other. We will build our own comics community while also making powerful non-fiction comics!

Note: Water-based materials only.
